La polemica è assolutamente scoperta, esasperata: convivono nell'opera la tecnica documentaria e quella illustrativa con pari drammaticità e pari sconforto. Sassu si attiene ai fatti: la sua e altre mille vicende personali non sono servite a nulla e la Resistenza tradita schiaffeggia l'uomo di oggi, la sua superficiale civiltà votata all'indifferenza.

Aligi Sassu

È nato a Milano nel 1912. Ha partecipato alla Biennale di Venezia negli anni 1928, 1948, 1952, 1954 e alla Quadriennale di Roma nel 1959 e nel 1972. Artista di fama internazionale, pittore e scultore, ha un esordio futurista, ma segue poi altre direzioni. Nelle sue opere, la realtà quotidiana viene spesso unita alla storia e al mito, in una grande vitalità cromatica. La dimensione murale e monumentale di certa sua pittura testimonia il desiderio di un'arte che parli a ogni essere umano.

Born in Milan in 1912, he has exhibited at the Venice Biennial in 1928, 1948, 1952, 1954 and at the Rome Quadriennial in 1959 and 1972. Painter and sculptor, he has acquired great notoriety worldwide. He was initially linked to Futurism, but then turned to other trends. In his works, everyday reality, history and myth are connected in a remarkable chromatic vitality; the murals and the monumental paintings, part of his production, manifest the artist's desire for an art speaking to all the human beings.
